Meteors devastated the Earth. World Governments developed plans to help surviving citizens. The United States disbanded and salvageable land was divided into our quadrants—North, South, East, and West—governed by The Remnant Council.

Struggling to survive, seventeen-year-old Ava ends up in juvenile detention, until she is selected for a new life—with a catch. She must be injected with an experimental serum. The results will be life changing. The serum will make her “better.” To receive the serum, Ava agrees to join a program controlled by ISAN, the International Sensory Assassin Network.

While on a mission, she is abducted by a rebel group led by Rhett and told that not only does she have a history with him, but her entire past is a lie perpetuated by ISAN to ensure her compliance. Unsure of who to trust, Ava must decide if her strangely familiar and handsome captor is her enemy or her savior—and time is running out.

About the Author

International Bestselling Author Mary Ting/M. Clarke resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one-Something Great. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children’s chapter book-No Bullies Allowed.

Books were my escape from reality. They took me to places beyond my imagination, and some of the characters became family. Books gave me peace, sanity, and hope. To be able to actually hold a story in my hand, my heart burst with euphoria.

ISAN by Marie Ting is another dystopian read for me! ISAN stands for International Sensory Assassin Network. Honestly, I joined this tour when I read the assassin thingy. I’ve always been fascinated by assassins and this one’s got a girl on the cover! Assassin + a girl = count me in!

The story is set in a place where no one knows since ISAN is a top secret organization. They’re in charge of taking out criminals including those who have a position within the government. The world has suffered through great floods, tsunamis and meteor showers that caused some cities to shut down. However, the technology has greatly improved and it’s so cool!

Ava, the MC has been a part of the organization for six months. She leads a team wherein her other members are females too. Actually, every assassin was female and dudeeee. Girl power!! I enjoyed reading the book especially the fight scenes because they’re really cool. The scenes are literally playing in my head. I loved how Mary Ting developed these characters. Each has their own unique trait that makes it easier to remember and appreciate them.

girl power

I can’t even start talking about the gadgets. One thing I look forward to in assassins and spies are their weapons. Everything is concealed and really high-tech! I was excited when I get to read the part wherein they’re given their new gadgets. I was actually really excited the whole time I was reading the book. It was fast-paced. The kind wherein it will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you not want to stop reading. I’ve read this book in almost one sitting and I’m actually left speechless! All I can remember is how I loved it!

I may not say this enough but it was really cool! They’re really awesome. It was pretty interesting because there’s a lot of things you’d want to know once you start reading it. The writing is outstanding. It was easy to read and enough background story is given to understand the story. The flow is good. I can say that it’s a bit fast-paced but I think that’s how it should be, the effect was great!

My heart thunders for you and no one else. It knows when you’re near. You can feel that, can’t you?

Don’t even get me started with the romance part! At first I had no idea if I’d like it but it almost brought me to tears! They’re so adorable and imagine having someone who won’t give up on you and wait for you even if you don’t remember them anymore, like your memory has been erased. Sorry, I may have said too much but it was really lovely I can’t seem to get over it!

Whatever I say is not enough to tell how astounding this book is and I gladly recommend this to everyone! Overall, I rate ISAN by Mary Ting, a perfect 5 out of 5 stars!

No one can take away my beating heart for you. You’re imprinted right there. Memories can be erased, but you can never forget an emotion that’s meant to last forever. You are my forever. Find me. Find us in your heart. That is my only request. Whatever it takes.
